Сама природа создала здесь идеальную сцену: U-образное ущелье с перепадом высот около 180 метров служит фоном для выступления, а зрительный зал рассчитан приблизительно на 2700 мест. Сцена плавно переходит в трибуны, так что граница между актёрами и публикой практически стирается. Художественным руководителем постановки выступил Чжан Имоу в рамках своей знаменитой серии «Импрессия»; общую режиссуру осуществляют Ван Чаогэ и Фань Юэ.
